Long Description: The Charles S. Price was built in 1910 in Lorain, Ohio. She was one of the many victims of the "big storm" of November 1913. This was one of the worst storms ever on the Great Lakes, begining on Novemer 9 and continueing for 76 hours. During this time period, many captains placed too much confidence in the relatively new "indestructible" steel hulls. Like many others that day, the captain of the Charles S. Price ignored the severe storm warnings being forcasted by the National Weather Service. But for many during this storm the 90 mph winds and 40 foot waves proved to be too much. Twenty-eight crewmen and the captain were lost. Description provided by Shipwrecked on The Internet
